For crashes you should be able to retrieve the Crash report and send this to [email protected].
CCP Konflikt wrote:Please open /Users/Account Name/Library/Application\ Support/Eve Online/p_drive/
Attach "Win32 CrashReport" and "Win32_minidump.dmp" to a bug report and call it "For Konflikt : Mac Crash" or similar and I will endavour get this fixed as fast as i can :)
These should give CCP a clue as to where to look.. the freezes are a lot more difficult as there is no report.. |

I have reinstalled from scratch.. the first thing that happend a minute after login >BOOM< frozen..? So, trashed it and put the old install back.
Would be nice if CCP Konflikt could drop by and give us a heads up on the status... we've been having this for a month now. |

Wow, it's been a while since I've read the Mac forums.. (been on bootcamp where I have 0 problems)
There is a simple solution folks.. sadly. Which is get a copy of windows and play EVE on bootcamp. Parallels or similar has no point as it drags your machines performance down.. just as cider is doing because its effectively porting EVE Win to your Mac.
If you've had enough of the problems with EVE on Mac... just do yourself a huge favour and install bootcamp. Yes, in fact it does make me look smarter. |

Wulkans wrote:As the freezing issue is introduced in Eve, I would say that hitting Windows client too is quite possible.
But as you probably already expect.. if this freezing issue was to hit windows... it would be reverted/patched out within about 6-12 hours.
Whereas due to the emulation that goes on in cider; A: it's a lot harder to pinpoint the issue, B: less players on OSX, so less of a concern for CCP I'd think. So.. I took matters into my own hands instead of complaining about the the problem.. (which wasn't being solved) I solved the problems by switching to Bootcamp. And now save myself a daily headache.
I keep trying out the Mac client after a large patch to see what's changed, but due to the game just running a lot smoother under windows I find myself holding the Option key after a restart to select Windows pretty damned fast.
For reference.. on MacOSX.. I cannot walk in CQ without turning graphics all the way down. On Windows however.. with Max settings, I can run CQ in full graphics smooth as a baby.
OSX isn't the problem, your hardware isn't the problem. Emulating EVE to run on OSX rather than getting a dedicated client is the problem. Yes, in fact it does make me look smarter. |

Wulkans wrote:I do have Bootcamp and I do have Windows, but I find it stupid to own a Mac machine just to log in Windows all the time. I completely agree. It's stupid that we need to do this. But I've accepted I'll just have to do it to actually enjoy playing EVE. It's not how it should be, but its definitely a "FIX" which shouldn't simply be disregarded because someone doesn't like windows. And thats coming from me who is a terrible apple fanatic..
Wulkans wrote:I suppose you did not buy yours if you prefer not to use all your OSX software and hardware, such as magic mouse that does not work under Windows, fans that do not work (you are not afraid to fry your mac?), ect. I'm not sure why you have this issue, did you install all the drivers from the disk you created during bootcamp setup? I haven' t tested my magic mouse (I prefer my Razer Naga) but my fans work (increase and decrease) just fine on both my 17" macbook and the 27" imac. If I felt I had a choice I would definitely stay on OSX. I bought a mac because I hate windows and prefer OSX.
